Technical Field Engineer – Robotics Integration & Deployment

About the role

As a (Senior) Technical Field Engineer – Robotics Integration & Deployment you will own the last mile between SE3’s engineering team and real‑world use. You will bring together UAVs, payloads, sensors, onboard compute, autonomy software and operator tools into systems that are ready to fly, test, demonstrate and deploy.

Key responsibilities

• Create clarity in complex situations by separating symptoms from root causes, reproducing failures and driving lasting solutions.
• Perform cross‑stack engineering across hardware, software, sensors, calibration, perception, networking and autonomy layers.
• Integrate UAVs, payloads, cameras, IMUs, radios and ground stations into field‑ready systems and validate mission logic.
• Build and use intelligent debugging, analysis and agent‑based workflows, improving scripts, dashboards and diagnostics.
• Define and run acceptance tests for platforms, payloads and software releases, ensuring repeatable readiness checks.
• Identify design flaws and recurring failure modes, turning field evidence into better hardware, software and procedures.
• Install, configure, maintain and support SE3 systems at test ranges, customer sites and partner demonstrations across Europe.
• Demonstrate systems to partners and end‑users, provide training and translate feedback into engineering requirements.

Required profile

• Structured, fast‑moving and mission‑driven mindset; able to iterate quickly with incomplete information.
• Degree (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) or equivalent practical background in Robotics, Aerospace, Electrical, Computer Science or related field.
• Hands‑on experience integrating, testing, operating or troubleshooting complex robotic or UAV systems.
• Comfortable moving between hardware and software: Linux, sensors, radios, flight controllers, payloads and networking.
• Proficient in reading logs, inspecting telemetry, using command‑line tools, flashing devices and communicating findings clearly.
• Willingness to work with real hardware in field conditions, using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
• Enjoys direct interaction with partners, operators and end‑users and can represent SE3 professionally.
• Proactive, hands‑on, ready to travel across Europe; fluent English, German a plus, driving licence required, and eligible for defence‑related security clearance.

• Perception and autonomy: localisation, camera/IMU calibration, sensor synchronization, object detection, mapping, navigation, mission autonomy.
• Analysis of sensor data, flight logs, frequency‑domain data, vibration, EMI, thermal and intermittent hardware failures.
• Environmental testing: vibration, thermal, ingress protection, EMI/EMC, MIL‑STD qualification workflows.
