Trainee Procurement Program – 18-Month Traineeship

About the role

Join METRO’s 18‑month Procurement Traineeship and fast‑track your career toward a senior expert position. You will work on sourcing food and non‑food products, analysing market trends and supporting the strategic Own Brands division while gaining international exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse market trends and define assortment ranges for food and non‑food categories.
• Negotiate with suppliers, handle contracts and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with international wholesale entities and trading offices.
• Monitor quality assurance for food and non‑food products.
• Support the Own Brands division to align article ranges and packaging with professional customer needs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in business, economics, procurement, food engineering, supply chain management, marketing or a related field with very good results.
• Relevant internships in procurement or supply‑chain functions.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, able to handle complexity.
• Quick learner, adaptable to changing environments, proactive and open personality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English (minimum B2); additional European language is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.
