Trainee Product Engineer – 12‑24 month role in Munich

About the role

As a Trainee Product Engineer you will support the creation of Westwing Collection’s next furniture range. Working closely with Buying and Creative teams, you will turn design concepts into manufacturable products while ensuring high quality and cost efficiency. The position lasts 12‑24 months and is based in Munich.

Key responsibilities

• Convert creative designs into detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct hands‑on reviews of prototypes with Creative and Buying teams and collaborate with external suppliers to refine designs.
• Run structural simulations to verify strength, safety and durability before production.
• Maintain technical documentation and manage engineering change processes.
• Analyze existing furniture lines and propose re‑engineering solutions to reduce costs without sacrificing quality.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering (mechanical, product design, or related).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, able to juggle multiple projects.
• Independent worker who also thrives in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software for 3D modeling and drawing creation.
• Experience performing structural simulations.
• Ability to produce manufacturing‑ready documentation.
