University Professorship in Economics – Sustainability Focus

About the role

Paderborn University seeks a W2 professor in Economics with a focus on sustainability. The position is attached to the Department of Economics and contributes to the Paderborn Research Center for Sustainable Economy (PARSEC).

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality empirical research using microdata and causal inference methods.
• Publish research findings in leading international journals.
• Participate in PARSEC activities and collaborate on interdisciplinary grant proposals.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in economics, labor/social security, or environmental economics.
• Supervise doctoral candidates and contribute to curriculum development.

Required profile

• Outstanding international research record in labor and social security or environmental economics.
• Experience with micro‑data analysis and causal inference.
• Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary sustainability research.
• Ability to secure third‑party funding, preferably from the DFG.

Required skills

• Advanced empirical research methods.
• Strong publication record in top journals.
• Experience in grant acquisition and project management.
