Vessel Performance Manager – Fleet Optimization

About the role

Join Bestship, a Wilhelmsen Group service provider, as a Vessel Performance Manager in Hamburg. You will support shipowners and managers worldwide by improving fleet efficiency, fuel consumption, and environmental performance through data‑driven analysis and optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse technical and operational data to pinpoint inefficiencies and define corrective actions.
• Lead fleet‑wide optimisation projects targeting fuel efficiency, voyage execution and emissions reduction.
• Prepare and deliver performance presentations for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor reporting systems, ensure data quality and trigger corrective measures when required.
• Represent vessel performance in owners’ meetings, presenting trends, risks and improvement plans.
• Collaborate with onboard crew, internal teams and service providers to enhance data accuracy.
• Support customers and seafarers on energy‑efficiency topics and ensure compliance with global emission regulations.

Required profile

• University degree or vocational training in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Naval Architecture or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the maritime industry, preferably in vessel operations, performance analysis or engineering.
• Strong technical understanding of ship systems, machinery and performance drivers.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical insights to non‑technical audiences.
• Proactive, flexible and able to work both independently and in cross‑functional teams.
