Vice President, International Counsel

About the role

Stanley Black & Decker is looking for a Vice President, International Counsel to provide strategic legal leadership across its global businesses. Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Officer, the role will act as the senior legal advisor for all international operations, helping the company grow while managing legal and regulatory risk.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an international legal strategy aligned with enterprise priorities.
• Partner with executive leadership to identify legal risks and opportunities in global markets.
• Serve as senior legal advisor to international business units, supporting growth, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
• Lead, develop, and coach a geographically dispersed international legal team.
• Oversee significant litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Coordinate external counsel and ensure compliance with applicable international laws.
• Promote efficient, scalable legal service delivery and drive operational excellence through Legal Operations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a senior legal executive with a focus on international law.
• Proven ability to lead high‑performing legal teams across multiple regions.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience advising C‑level executives.
• Track record of managing complex cross‑border litigation and regulatory matters.
• Excellent judgment in balancing legal, commercial, and operational considerations.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of international corporate, regulatory, and compliance law.
• Experience with cross‑border transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Legal Operations, Compliance, Trade, Privacy, and Corporate Affairs functions.
