Working Student Frontend Engineer – Remote

About the role

BASF is looking for a motivated working student to join its AI & Analytics Group as a Frontend Engineer. You will work remotely for a six‑month period, turning business requirements into high‑quality, user‑friendly web interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, designers, and backend developers to clarify requirements.
• Translate ideas into functional, responsive UI components while ensuring usability and performance.
• Continuously inspect and adapt solutions, challenging existing implementations where appropriate.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the team’s best‑practice guidelines.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a university program in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to ask insightful questions and propose solution ideas.
• Self‑starter attitude, capable of working independently and taking ownership of deliverables.

Required skills

• Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Experience with React (including Hooks, Context API, and state management).
• Familiarity with Redux and Axios is a plus.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to other frameworks such as Angular or Vue if needed.
