About the role

We are seeking an academic employee to lead the development and synthesis of novel battery materials for calcium‑based energy storage. The position involves hands‑on laboratory work, comprehensive material characterization, and collaboration with national and international partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and synthesize electrolytes and electrode materials for calcium batteries.
  • Perform chemical and electrochemical characterization using NMR, XRD, SEM, potentiostatic/galvanostatic methods, cyclic voltammetry, and impedance spectroscopy.
  • Manufacture laboratory test cells and evaluate their performance.
  • Investigate stabilizing interfaces and functional coatings for electrodes.
  • Collaborate with project partners and internal research groups.
  • Publish results in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
  • Supervise bachelor’s and master’s students.

Required profile

  • Completed Master’s degree in Chemistry or Materials Science.
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Materials Science.
  • Experience with chemical synthesis and material analysis (SEM/EDX, XRD, FT‑IR, NMR).
  • Proficiency in electrochemical investigations.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English.

Required skills

  • Chemical synthesis of battery materials.
  • SEM/EDX microscopy.
  • X‑ray diffraction (XRD).
  • Fourier‑transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‑IR).
