Accountant – Finance & Accounting Team (Germany)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Accountant to join the finance and accounting team of a well‑established German company. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting activities, and ensuring compliance with German accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping in line with German accounting standards.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger balances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with German GAAP (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Prepare VAT returns and other statutory financial reports.
• Monitor financial transactions and identify discrepancies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Accountant or Bookkeeper.
• Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Experience with accounting software such as DATEV or SAP.
• Analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Fluent German language skills; English is a plus.
• Professional certifications (e.g., Bilanzbuchhalter) are an advantage.
