Accountant – Finance & Accounting Team (Germany)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Accountant to join the finance and accounting team of a well‑established German company. The role is based on‑site at one of several locations across Germany, with the possibility of a hybrid arrangement depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and perform bookkeeping in line with German accounting standards (HGB).
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts and general‑ledger balances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with German GAAP, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements, including VAT returns.
• Assist with internal and external audits and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Accountant, or Bookkeeper.
• Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Fluent German language skills; English is a plus.
• Professional certifications such as Bilanzbuchhalter are advantageous.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting software such as DATEV.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
