Accountant Financial Reporting (Hybrid)

About the role

Join BASF’s Global Business Services as an Accountant in the Financial Reporting team. You will handle general‑ledger and asset‑lease accounting, act as the main liaison between subsidiaries, finance units and the group headquarters, and support the preparation of statutory and management reports.

Key responsibilities

• Process business transactions in the general ledger and perform asset & lease accounting.
• Reconcile sub‑ledgers and ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS, HGB and local GAAP for European BASF entities.
• Support income‑tax calculations and provide input for group reporting.
• Serve as the primary contact for accounting queries from subsidiaries, other finance departments, central finance units and external auditors.
• Participate in projects, tool development and the implementation of SAP S/4HANA.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant experience in accounting (financial, management, AP/AR, etc.).
• Strong command of English; German or other European languages are a plus.
• High motivation, team orientation and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel.
• SAP R/3.
• SAP S/4HANA.
• Knowledge of IFRS and HGB/local GAAP reporting standards.
