Aerodynamic Design & Analysis Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Aerodynamic Design & Analysis Engineer to support the Air Power Engineering / Flight Physics team. You will work on the aerodynamic design and characterization of military aircraft throughout their life‑cycle, using CFD, wind‑tunnel testing and flight‑test data.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse aerodynamic shapes using numerical (CFD), experimental and theoretical methods.
• Set up, monitor and evaluate CFD simulations and deliver results on time, cost and quality.
• Support mathematical modelling of aircraft characteristics across the full flight envelope.
• Collaborate with structures, loads, flight dynamics and mass disciplines.
• Prepare, execute and analyse wind‑tunnel experiments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of aerodynamic software tool chains.

Required profile

• Higher education in aerospace, mechanical engineering, mathematics or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, gas dynamics and thermodynamics.
• Experience with high‑fidelity CFD simulations and turbulence modelling.
• Familiarity with aircraft design, flight mechanics and engine properties.

Required skills

• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and mesh generation.
• 3D‑CAD parametric design (e.g., CATIA V5).
• Programming in Python, C or C++.
• Understanding of numerical and experimental aerodynamic methods.
