Assistant General Counsel – Telecoms & Renewables

About the role

The Assistant General Counsel – Telecoms & Renewables will support Unison’s rapid expansion across European markets. Based in Germany, the role combines legal oversight of telecom infrastructure acquisitions with the development of the company’s renewable energy portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end acquisition transactions for telecom assets (e.g., cell towers) across multiple EU jurisdictions.
• Conduct legal and property due diligence, including lease and title reviews.
• Coordinate closings with external advisors such as lawyers, notaries, banks and fund managers.
• Draft contracts, notarial documents and closing paperwork; oversee full closing execution and payment processes.
• Support expansion into new jurisdictions, providing basic property tax guidance and compliance advice.
• Lead a pipeline of renewable energy lease acquisitions, negotiate sale‑leaseback and land‑financing structures with developers.
• Oversee in‑house legal teams, prepare underwriting analyses and assist with market entry activities (entity setup, KYC, structuring).
• Train origination teams on real‑estate and renewable‑energy legal matters and run regular legal coordination meetings.

Required profile

• 10+ years of legal experience in a law firm and/or renewable‑energy environment.
• Strong track record in managing complex transactions to closing.
• Experience with telecom infrastructure and renewable‑energy projects in Europe.
• Ability to work closely with senior management, origination, pricing and property‑management teams.
