Aviation Safety Officer (MOA/POA) – Aviation Safety Management

About the role

The Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) is a key member of the Aviation Safety Management System Office, reporting to the Aviation Safety Manager. Based in Manching, the role drives the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation's Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure safe aviation operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the SMS in line with ICAO, EASA and EMAR requirements.
• Facilitate the risk‑management process, including hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation.
• Promote a proactive safety culture across the organisation.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable aviation safety regulations and standards.
• Maintain and update safety documentation, review regulatory amendments and organise staff safety training.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry stakeholders and other safety professionals.
• Collect, manage and analyse safety data and records.

Required profile

• Strong interest in aviation safety and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Flexibility to adapt to part‑time, job‑sharing or reduced‑hour arrangements if required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ICAO, EASA and EMAR regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with risk‑management methodologies and safety data handling.
