AWS Cloud Platform Engineer

About the role

As an AWS Cloud Platform Engineer you will build and evolve the internal developer platform that enables product teams to develop, deploy and operate software quickly, safely and at scale. The role is central to the backbone of high‑traffic digital products such as welt.de and bild.de as well as critical internal systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and continuously improve the internal developer platform on AWS using Terraform, focusing on scalability, reliability and developer experience.
• Automate infrastructure delivery through CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Spacelift) and expand self‑service capabilities for product teams.
• Own and evolve core platform components, strengthen security, compliance and resilience with clear standards and guardrails.
• Evaluate and introduce new AWS services, tools and cloud‑native patterns that add clear value.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience operating large‑scale AWS environments with broad knowledge of compute, storage, networking, backup, recovery and cloud security.
• Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CI/CD automation, agile delivery and platform engineering concepts.
• End‑to‑end ownership mindset, clear communication, collaborative attitude and ability to drive topics forward in complex environments.
