Backend QA Engineer

About the role

Air Apps is looking for a Backend QA Engineer to ensure the reliability, performance and scalability of its backend services. The role is fully onsite at the Lisbon office and involves close collaboration with engineers to maintain high‑quality standards across APIs, databases and service integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and execute manual and automated tests for backend APIs, databases and service integrations.
• Validate API functionality and performance using tools such as Postman or Swagger.
• Test database operations, queries and data integrity in PostgreSQL.
• Review pull requests to verify code quality and test coverage.
• Maintain automated test suites for backend services.
• Identify reliability or performance issues in backend infrastructure.
• Document defects, test cases and results in TestRail or similar tools.
• Collaborate with developers and product teams to improve testing strategies.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience with backend technologies, testing or software development in test roles.
• Hands‑on experience with Node.js and TypeScript in backend environments.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman, Swagger or comparable tools.
