Backend Software Engineer – Control Plane / API

About the role

Brillianza is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join its Control Plane team in Frankfurt. You will be responsible for building the provisioning APIs, orchestration logic and automation that enable rapid deployment and management of private cloud platforms for research, public sector and regulated enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs (REST/gRPC) that power the Brillianza platform.
• Implement automation workflows to achieve sub‑24‑hour private‑cloud deployments.
• Work on the orchestration layer that integrates with Kubernetes and OpenStack.
• Own features from design through testing, release and iteration.
• Collaborate with platform and operations teams to ensure reliable production operation.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and uphold code‑quality standards.

Required profile

• Strong experience in backend development using Go, Python or similar languages.
• Proven track record of shipping production services.
• Experience designing and building REST or gRPC APIs and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and/or OpenStack at the API or orchestration level.
• Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and modern development practices.
• Clear English communication; German is a plus.
• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
