Bookkeeper

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Bookkeeper to join our Berlin office and support the finance team of a global artist‑services company. The role is full‑time, onsite, and involves handling the complete accounting cycle for our operations in Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑cycle, double‑entry bookkeeping up to trial balance and assist with year‑end accounts.
• Manage billing and credit control, ensuring timely invoicing, debt collection and weekly debtor/creditor reporting.
• Prepare, calculate and submit VAT returns and process payroll in line with German tax regulations.
• Maintain general accounting records, liaise with external accountants, banks, auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with filing systems, records retention policies and other statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience with German accounting and statutory reporting.
• Fluent English; German language proficiency preferred.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for teamwork and stakeholder interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting software, preferably Xero.
• Knowledge of international VAT and double‑entry bookkeeping.
