Business Tax Manager – German Direct Taxes

About the role

As a Business Tax Manager you will be the single point of contact for all tax‑related matters concerning German direct taxes, tax filings, entity tax returns and audit responses for SEFE’s commercial activities in Central & Eastern Europe. You will support the VP and Team Lead Corporate Income Tax in global tax compliance and provide tax advice for projects, contracts, M&A activities and new formations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review domestic and foreign tax declarations for corporations and partnerships.
• Review tax assessments and handle tax audits.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and declarations.
• Compute tax provisions for financial statements.
• Provide tax advice on project structuring, contracts and M&A due diligence.
• Participate as tax advisor in strategic and special projects.
• Support shareholder and stakeholder reporting and redress procedures.
• Assess a wide range of tax issues and draft recommendations.
• Review customer and supplier contracts from a tax perspective.
• Serve as liaison for tax matters with subsidiaries, authorities, suppliers and customers, and manage external tax advisors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent qualification, or chartered German tax advisor.
• Experience in a multinational or professional services environment.
• Extensive experience with German direct taxes, M&A tax, and international tax matters.
• Proven track record and expert technical skills in German tax, M&A tax and international tax.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluent communication in German and English, both written and verbal.
