Cell Test Technician (m/f/d) – Engineering Germany

About the role

Tesla’s Cell Qualification and Abuse Test teams are seeking motivated Cell Test Technicians to support validation of battery cell lifetime, reliability and safety. You will work in a high‑visibility laboratory environment, collaborating with engineers and using state‑of‑the‑art equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cell tests independently using specialized fixtures, environmental chambers and data loggers following SOPs.
• Prepare test setups, including instrumentation and charging procedures.
• Conduct destructive teardowns for root‑cause analysis and document findings.
• Maintain high test throughput, data quality and equipment calibration.
• Build, assemble and commission test equipment as needed.
• Create and maintain procedures, SOPs, standards, and oversee lab commissioning, inspections and staff training.
• Handle hazardous materials with required PPE and comply with dangerous‑goods regulations.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training or equivalent education in process technology, chemical, medical, environmental or physical laboratories, or comparable technical education.
• Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Attention to detail and reliability when performing repetitive, standardized work.

Required skills

• Operation of test equipment such as cyclers, environmental chambers and data acquisition systems (DAQ).
• Hands‑on experience with cell and battery testing or vehicle testing.
• Knowledge of power electronics testing.
• Handling of dangerous goods and related packaging requirements.
• Computer skills for data logging and reporting.
