Chief Engineer

About the role

The Hoxton, Hamburg is looking for a Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and engineering operations of its new hotel. You will be responsible for ensuring all facilities, equipment and safety systems run smoothly while supporting a high‑standard guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overall maintenance of the hotel’s facilities and equipment, keeping budgets and stock levels within guidelines.
• Develop and monitor preventive‑maintenance (PPM) schedules and ensure fire‑safety equipment is tested on time.
• Coordinate on‑site activities of contractors, order supplies and maintain accurate stock controls.
• Maintain comprehensive records for all machinery, including specifications, manuals and manufacturer details.
• Lead a team of engineers and maintenance staff, setting goals, coaching and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Identify process improvements, manage policy changes and support the hotel’s crisis and fire teams.
• Arrange quotations from suppliers and manage relationships with external contractors.
• Cover shift engineer duties as required.

Required skills

• MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) management experience.
• Health & safety compliance and risk‑assessment knowledge.
• Proficiency with facility‑management software.
• Stock management and procurement skills.
