Communications Manager

About the role

ClientEarth is seeking a Communications Manager to lead the planning and delivery of communications for its work in Germany. The role will shape media strategy, produce German‑language content, and support legal, policy and fundraising teams to maximise impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and evaluate an integrated communications strategy aligned with organisational priorities and the Germany operational plan.
• Translate complex legal and policy work into clear, compelling messages for German audiences.
• Design and execute a strategic media‑relations plan, building sustainable relationships with national, regional and specialist German media.
• Oversee production of high‑quality German‑language content across press releases, web, social media, newsletters, campaign materials and partner communications.
• Provide advice to advocacy, policy and fundraising colleagues on how communications can amplify their work.

Required profile

• Fluent in German and English (CEFR C2 level).
• Significant experience in communications, media relations or reputational management, preferably within an NGO, advocacy, law, policy or journalism context.
• Proven track record of producing press material and securing coverage in mainstream German media.
• Strong knowledge of the German media landscape, political context and ability to build journalist contacts quickly.
