Construction Project Manager – Pre‑Construction & Delivery (Freelance)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our team on a 12‑month freelance contract, based in Germany with a hybrid work model. The role will start with pre‑construction activities for multiple programmes and will transition to full construction delivery by 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Support and take ownership of active pre‑construction projects, reviewing documentation to understand scope, risks and delivery requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks early, ensuring smooth handover to construction teams.
• Maintain strong engagement with the pre‑construction team (≈30% of time) and validate project readiness before construction starts.
• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, consultants and vendors, ensuring clear communication across pre‑construction, engineering, operations and delivery.
• Champion health and safety, reviewing site plans and documentation to flag safety risks and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management, engineering, facilities or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience with construction, retrofit, refurbishment or capital‑improvement projects.
• Strong understanding of pre‑construction processes, project planning and handover procedures.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of project delivery.
• Willingness to travel across Germany and work in a hybrid setting.
