About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Consultant to lead the implementation of the Renewables Environmental Research Initiative (RERI) within the CMS Secretariat in Bonn. The role supports the execution of COP15 decisions related to aquatic species and contributes to the broader conservation agenda of migratory wildlife.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of the CMS RERI project, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Prepare progress reports, donor reports, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of decisions taken at COP15 and the development of the Programme of Work of the Sessional Committee of the Scientific Council.
  • Draft background documents, minutes, and follow‑up materials for meetings and workshops.
  • Develop project proposals for fundraising and prepare outreach materials, including publications and website content.
  • Create capacity‑building resources such as videos, presentations, and handouts for workshops and courses.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Head of the CMS Aquatic Species Team.

Required profile

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental science, ecology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in project coordination and reporting within international environmental programmes.
  • Familiarity with the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and its related agreements (e.g., AEWA, EUROBATS).
