Customer Engineer – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) you will act as the primary liaison with Applied Materials' customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostics to troubleshoot issues while ensuring high‑quality service and safety on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of experience in customer/field service support or a related technical field.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Willingness to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 protocols.

Required skills

• Digital analytics for equipment troubleshooting.
• Basic diagnostic techniques.
• Maintenance of electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of plasma etch (preferred).
