Data Analyst – Airbus‑Related Programs (Hamburg)

About the role

Orbital Critical Systems (CAF Group) is seeking Data Analysts to join its on‑site teams in the Hamburg/Finkenwerder area. The role supports data‑driven projects for Airbus‑related aerospace and defence programmes, focusing on advanced materials design through inverse design and machine‑learning techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Explore and develop inverse design methodologies based on data‑driven and machine‑learning approaches to accelerate advanced materials design.
• Derive optimal material configurations directly from performance requirements, reducing iterative optimisation cycles.
• Define, develop and propose research projects in composite materials and coating technologies aligned with the strategic roadmap.
• Execute scientific‑driven R&D activities autonomously within an international organisation.
• Collaborate with academic partners, universities, research institutes, industrial partners and start‑ups.
• Engage with the wider materials and surface‑technology community to maintain state‑of‑the‑art inverse design approaches.

Required profile

• Degree in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• Experience or strong interest in data‑driven modelling, machine learning or inverse design methods.
• Knowledge of composite materials and/or coating technologies is highly valued.
• Experience with Python, data analysis and scientific computing.
• C1 English level – mandatory; German language skills are a strong plus.
• Applicants must hold citizenship of a European country.
