Data Scientist – Mortgage Business Data Steward

About the role

We are looking for a Data Scientist to act as the central data expert and Business Data Steward for our German Mortgages business. In this role you will analyse customer, product, portfolio and risk data to generate insights, detect anomalies and support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse mortgage‑related data to identify trends, provide forecasting, scenario analysis and ad‑hoc management reports.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Mortgages unit and the Business Intelligence team, translating business needs into data, reporting and dashboard solutions.
• Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and monitoring tools while automating reporting processes.
• Own and maintain data definitions, business rules, Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and data standards across the Mortgages function.
• Define and monitor data‑quality controls, investigate issues and coordinate corrective actions with technology and business stakeholders.
• Support projects, change initiatives and continuous‑improvement activities as the go‑to contact for data‑related topics.
• Promote data literacy and a data‑driven culture throughout the Mortgages department.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Several years of experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence or data stewardship, preferably within banking, mortgages or financial services.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with proven stakeholder‑management skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
