Dean of School of Business, Social and Decision Sciences

About the role

The University is seeking a senior academic leader to serve as Dean of the School of Business, Social and Decision Sciences. The Dean will provide strategic direction, oversee teaching and research, and enhance the school’s international profile. The position is full‑time (38.5 h/week) on a fixed‑term basis for up to five years, based in Bremen, Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and academic leadership aligned with the university’s mission and long‑term goals.
• Supervise and mentor faculty across multiple disciplines, fostering professional development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Develop and manage the school’s annual budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources for teaching, research and administration.
• Drive interdisciplinary education across undergraduate, graduate, online and executive programmes.
• Collaborate with the Provost, other Deans and the Constructor ecosystem to strengthen academic quality and institutional strategy.
• Enhance the school’s international reputation and build academic partnerships.
• Promote innovation in digital and online education and emerging teaching methods.
• Represent the school in internal and external forums.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior academic leadership, preferably as a dean, department head or equivalent.
• Strong track record in managing diverse faculty and interdisciplinary programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and oversee budgets and resource planning.
• Experience in international collaboration and partnership building.
• Commitment to digital transformation and innovative teaching approaches.
