Deployed AI Engineer

About the role

As a Deployed AI Engineer at Helsing, you will bring cutting‑edge AI software into real‑world defence systems. You will work directly with customers and partners to integrate, operate, and continuously improve AI capabilities in demanding environments such as aircraft mission control.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with avionics engineers to understand data structures, APIs, and network protocols used in mission‑critical systems.
• Design and implement adapters that connect Helsing’s cloud infrastructure with legacy databases, APIs, and communication stacks.
• Own the end‑to‑end delivery of AI features, from requirement gathering and bug identification to shipping functional code.
• Coordinate technology demonstrations, showcasing AI capabilities in simulations or live systems.
• Maintain and evolve deployed software, ensuring reliability and performance in operational settings.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong curiosity and problem‑solving mindset; prefers asking questions over assuming answers.
• Comfortable working with unfamiliar or legacy systems and willing to make them work.
• Enjoys deep technical investigation until the system’s behavior is fully understood.

Required skills

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
• Software development experience in C++, Java, Rust, or similar compiled languages.
• Ability to navigate and configure Linux environments.
• Understanding of network stacks, APIs, and database interactions.
