Design Engineer II – Mechanical Design

About the role

JBT Marel is seeking a Design Engineer II to join its Prepared Foods – Design Engineering department in Glinde, Germany. You will work in a hybrid, full‑time capacity, supporting the development and lifecycle management of food‑processing equipment for a global market.

Key responsibilities

• Define and coordinate technical requirements for subcontracted development tasks, from concept through build.
• Participate in multidisciplinary project teams of up to five members, collaborating with international engineers, suppliers and customers.
• Develop design concepts and technical solutions based on customer needs, including troubleshooting existing machinery.
• Provide lifecycle support, ensuring regulatory compliance and managing updates throughout product life.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for commissioning, training and after‑care.
• Develop and modify 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
• Manage product data in Windchill PDM and maintain accurate BOM structures within ERP systems.
• Ensure designs meet industry regulations, quality standards and internal engineering guidelines.

• Technically strong and structured, able to translate requirements into practical designs.
• Collaborative team player with clear communication skills in an international, English‑speaking environment.
• Proactive and solution‑oriented, taking initiative to improve designs and support innovation.
• Detail‑oriented and quality‑driven, ensuring accuracy in design, documentation and data management.
• Adaptable and hands‑on, comfortable working on tasks ranging from concept development to troubleshooting.
