Design Engineer (m/f/d) – Defence

About the role

As a Design Engineer (m/f/d) you will join NAXCON GmbH’s defence division in Düsseldorf, contributing to the creation of cutting‑edge missile and sensor systems. You will work on the full product lifecycle, from concept through prototype testing to manufacturing validation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, detail and develop innovative components, assemblies and complete systems for defence applications.
• Create, develop and maintain in‑house simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Support the selection, research and evaluation of sensor solutions.
• Define technical system requirements based on customer needs and regulatory standards.
• Develop new solution concepts and identify optimisation potential.
• Plan and oversee CAE simulations (FEM, CFD) for design validation.
• Validate manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility.
• Approve component designs and documentation, including 2D drawings.
• Identify and collaborate with external suppliers and partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or a comparable discipline.
• Minimum three years of practical experience in product design, development and prototype testing.
• Experience in guided‑missile or related defence projects.
• Strong knowledge of production‑oriented design using CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
• Proficiency in managing and interpreting simulation results.
• Very good written and spoken German and English.
• High personal responsibility, results‑oriented mindset and strong teamwork skills.
