Design Engineer – PEM Fuel Cell Stack (d/f/m)

About the role

As a Design Engineer at Aerostack, you will join a joint venture between Airbus and an automotive partner to develop PEM fuel‑cell stacks for aeronautic applications. The position focuses on the CAD design of bipolar plates and related stack components, supporting the acceleration of zero‑emission aircraft technology.

Key responsibilities

• Create and release CAD drawings in line with Aerostack standards and configuration‑management rules.
• Develop advanced, parameterised CAD models, perform mass and volume calculations, and conduct assembly checks.
• Define and execute mechanical analyses (thermal, fluid, structural, electrical) and tolerance calculations.
• Prepare CAD models for downstream CAE simulations and generate Bills of Material.
• Apply Aeronautical standards, release manufacturing drawings, and support SAP configuration management.
• Participate in Design and Process FMEAs, ensuring quality and safety.
• Coordinate procurement, manufacturing, and assembly of components, jigs, and tools.
• Support validation and verification activities to advance the stack technology to TRL 5 and beyond.
• Collaborate closely with component engineers, project leads, supply‑chain, cost engineering, and quality teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in CAD design of fuel‑cell or aerospace components.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, thermal and fluid analyses.
• Familiarity with configuration management, BOM creation and SAP.
• Ability to work in cross‑functional teams and follow rigorous engineering processes.
