Development Engineer - Thermal and Fluid Systems

About the role

As a Development Engineer for Thermal and Fluid Systems you will support pioneering next‑generation environmental control and thermal management architectures for military aircraft at Airbus Defence and Space. The position is based in Manching, a town north of Munich, offering a blend of countryside quality of life and easy access to nearby cities.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate complex Environmental Control System (ECS) sub‑systems and advanced equipment into current and future combat aircraft.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of ECS work packages, from scoping and planning to execution and in‑service support.
• Address thermodynamic, fluid‑dynamic and mechanical challenges using cutting‑edge simulation tools.
• Act as the primary technical contact for system and component suppliers, ensuring technological alignment.
• Monitor the technical landscape to identify breakthroughs and anticipate gaps.
• Coordinate with Airworthiness, Quality, Procurement and Program Management interfaces.
• Collaborate with international subcontractors, partners and customers.

Required profile

• Engineer with a strong interest in complex thermodynamics and high‑performance systems.
• Experience in developing thermal and fluid solutions for aerospace or related sectors.
• Ability to work across cross‑functional teams and manage supplier relationships.
