Director, Commercial Lead – Gene Therapy (EMEA)

About the role

Ultragenyx is seeking a senior commercial leader to drive the launch and market success of its gene‑therapy portfolio across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. As the primary EMEA point of contact, you will translate global strategy into regional execution and ensure patients gain timely access to life‑changing treatments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute pre‑launch, launch and post‑launch plans for assigned gene‑therapy products across EMEA.
• Serve as the central liaison between global, regional and country teams, aligning strategy and operational activities.
• Partner with General Managers and country teams to build launch readiness, incorporate market insights and establish commercial capabilities.
• Lead a cross‑functional launch team covering Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Quality functions.
• Monitor launch performance, drive operational excellence and ensure sustainable commercial success throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading commercial launches of advanced therapies, preferably gene‑therapy, in multiple EMEA markets.
• Deep understanding of regulatory, supply‑chain and patient‑access challenges specific to gene‑therapy products.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders across functions.
• Ability to translate global strategy into market‑specific execution frameworks.
