Director, Head of Internal Audit – Frankfurt (Zurich Branch)

About the role

We are seeking a Director, Head of Internal Audit to lead the audit function for our Zurich Branch, based in Frankfurt. This senior position offers the chance to shape audit strategy across a global financial services organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain a risk‑based internal audit plan for the Zurich Branch.
• Lead and manage audit engagements covering financial, operational and compliance areas.
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes.
• Report audit findings and remediation progress to senior management and track corrective actions to completion.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and professional standards such as IIA and COSO.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and coordinate regulatory responses.
• Mentor junior auditors and support the development of a high‑performing audit team.
• Provide strategic insight on emerging risks, jurisdictional compliance and regulatory developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 12‑15 years of total experience, including 5‑7 years in audit management.
• Deep understanding of audit methodologies and financial‑services environments.
• Strong knowledge of internal‑control frameworks and risk‑assessment methodologies.
• International or multi‑entity audit experience in a regulated setting.
• Exposure to data‑governance, data analytics and AI techniques applied to audit.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
