Director of Finance

About the role

The Hoxton, Hamburg, its second hotel in Germany, is opening in the Alter Wall redevelopment project with 188 bedrooms, a lobby bar, ground-floor restaurant, rooftop restaurant and a meeting and event space. It is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to run the hotel's finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure strong financial management within a robust control environment and hold ultimate responsibility for accurate accounting records and financial reports, including statutory accounts.
• Manage the finance relationship with operations and finance at hotel and head office, and the owner relationship.
• Lead balance sheet, P&L, cash management and capital matters, and deliver management reporting, KPIs and a balanced scorecard.
• Improve systems and processes, train users and correct errors at source.
• Lead planning and forecasting, support the General Manager and the finance team in strategic planning, and manage the budgeting process.
• Build and develop a high-quality finance team, including succession planning and continuous training.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hotel finance experience, ideally already in a Finance Manager or Director of Finance role.
• Knowledge of German financial requirements from a financial and legal perspective.
• A qualified accountant is an advantage.
• Passion for hospitality, teamwork and a flexible, process-driven approach.

• Understanding of compliance requirements and best practice hotel operations.
• Finance function set-up and standard systems.
