Electrical Design Manager – Data Centre (Freelance)

About the role

We are supporting a major semiconductor project in Frankfurt and need an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead the electrical design delivery for a data‑centre. This freelance position is mission‑critical, fast‑paced, and requires hands‑on ownership of design packages from concept through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all electrical design activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design and optimise cable‑tray routing and layouts, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Develop and coordinate containment‑system designs and installations.
• Deliver medium‑voltage (MV) design work aligned with project specifications.
• Review, consolidate and circulate design documentation with consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Guarantee that all designs meet applicable standards, regulations and client requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams during installation and resolve design issues.
• Work closely with commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration and deliverability.
• Monitor design progress against milestones and adjust plans to meet deadlines.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Manager or Senior Electrical Design Engineer.
• Strong background in data‑centre or other mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in cable‑tray, containment‑system and MV design.
• Solid knowledge of European electrical design standards and best practices.
• Experience in high‑pressure, fast‑paced construction environments.
• Fluent English; German highly desirable.
• Excellent coordination, leadership and communication abilities.
