Embedded Software Engineer – Munich (Onsite)

About the role

You will work close to hardware on flight and ground systems, developing real‑time software for Embedded Linux, RTOS and bare‑metal platforms. The position involves owning low‑level drivers, middleware and avionics interfaces while collaborating directly with electronics and systems engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement real‑time embedded software for flight‑critical applications.
• Develop and maintain low‑level drivers, middleware and avionics interfaces.
• Debug, bring‑up, isolate faults and tune performance on real hardware.
• Collaborate closely with electronics and avionics engineers to define interfaces.
• Utilise model‑based tools such as MATLAB/Simulink where they accelerate delivery.

Required profile

• 3+ years of embedded software development in aerospace, defence or a similarly demanding domain.
• Strong sense of timing, determinism and resource constraints on RTOS, Embedded Linux or bare‑metal systems.
• Fluent in C and/or C++ with a focus on correctness and long‑term maintainability.
• Comfortable debugging on real hardware, not just in simulation.
• Experience working tightly with electronics and avionics engineers.
• Motivated by small‑team, flight‑critical work where code directly impacts system behaviour.
