Engineering Manager – Authentication & Authorization (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Authentication & Authorization team at Pliant. The role combines hands‑on development (initially 40‑50%) with people and technical leadership, shaping secure, scalable solutions for our B2B payments platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing interdisciplinary engineering team, providing mentorship, performance reviews and a psychologically safe environment.
• Architect, build and maintain authentication, authorization and member‑management services using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot and micro‑service patterns.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineering managers to define road‑maps, set OKRs and drive releases.
• Ensure automation, CI/CD and operational excellence while scaling the platform for rapid growth.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong background in distributed, testable and maintainable backend systems.
• Hands‑on experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Passion for people management and mentoring engineers.
