About the role

The Family Violence Prevention Specialist provides trauma‑informed, survivor‑centered support to individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence and stalking. The role focuses on survivors and families involved with the Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), offering crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, and resource connection.

Key responsibilities

Advocate for and support survivors and families engaged with DCYF, including participation in family meetings, court hearings, and home visits.
Provide consultation, education, and training to DCYF staff on domestic violence issues and survivor needs.
Deliver in‑person and phone‑based advocacy, offering crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, peer support, and referrals.
Facilitate survivor support groups and accompany clients to hospitals, police departments, Child Advocacy Centers, and court proceedings as needed.
Assist with shelter intake, follow‑up support, and maintain accurate documentation and data in compliance with program and funding requirements.
