Field Service Technician

About the role

As a Field Service Technician you will support the preparation, maintenance, testing and operation of specialized mechanical and electromechanical equipment used during nuclear power plant outages worldwide. Based in Mannheim, you will work on‑site at nuclear facilities, collaborate closely with engineering teams and travel internationally as required.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain specialized remote‑controlled equipment such as milling, drilling, EDM and bolting systems.
• Commission and test newly designed equipment.
• Support product and development engineers during testing phases, including parameter development, validation and troubleshooting.
• Install and configure software on computers and control units, including network setup.
• Operate specialized equipment on‑site in nuclear power plants worldwide.
• Manufacture or modify electrical and mechanical components.
• Assemble equipment and tooling.
• Collaborate across departments and internationally with teams in several countries.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar skilled‑worker/technician role.
• Basic knowledge of computers, software installation and networking.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrotechnical aptitude.
• Ability to read technical documentation such as mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• English proficiency at least A2 (B1 preferred) and native‑level or C1/C2 proficiency in the local language (German).
• Problem‑solving mindset, teamwork and open communication.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work in outage environments.
