Field Service Technician

About the role

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the preparation, maintenance, testing, and operation of specialized mechanical and electromechanical equipment used during nuclear power plant outages worldwide. The position is based in Mannheim and involves international travel to outage sites.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain remote‑controlled equipment such as milling, drilling, Electric Discharge Machining and bolting systems.
• Commission and test newly designed equipment.
• Assist Product and Development Engineers during testing phases, including parameter development, validation and troubleshooting.
• Install and configure software on computers and control units, including network setup.
• Operate specialized equipment on‑site in nuclear power plants worldwide.
• Manufacture or modify electrical and mechanical components and assemble equipment and tooling.
• Collaborate with cross‑departmental and international teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a skilled worker or technician in a similar field.
• Basic computer knowledge, software installation and networking.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrotechnical aptitude.
• Ability to read technical documentation such as mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• English proficiency of at least A2 (B1 preferred) and native‑level or C1/C2 proficiency in the local language.
• Problem‑solving mindset, teamwork and open communication.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work in outage environments.
