Floor Manager (m/f/d) - Hotel Bar & Lounge

About the role

The Hoxton, Charlottenburg in Berlin, which opened in May 2023, is looking for a Floor Manager to lead day-to-day operations at Charlotte's, the hotel's lobby bar and dining space. Reporting to the Restaurant & Bar Manager, you will cover the Lobby and support breakfast, and occasionally meetings and events. The hotel has 234 bedrooms and a meeting and events space on the 7th floor.

Key responsibilities

• Create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and keep the floor running smoothly when it gets busy
• Manage the flow of service: allocate sections, organise food running, manage reservations and walk-ins, and keep the floor, bar and kitchen in sync
• Keep standards consistent: prompt drinks, accurate orders, thoughtful check-backs and tidy tables
• Run daily briefings on bookings, events, menu updates, dietary requirements, sales priorities and staff roles
• Coach and develop the service team, help new starters and give immediate feedback
• Work with the Head Bartender, baristas and Culinary Head Chef, share feedback and build product knowledge through tastings and training
• Know the menu, wines, cocktails and coffee, and make natural recommendations
• Handle problems calmly, find solutions within your authority, record feedback and follow up
• Keep opening, closing, cleanliness and side duties on track, and check lighting, music, furniture and presentation
• Ensure food safety, allergen communication, responsible alcohol service and health and safety are part of everyday service
• Support local collaborations and Charlotte's events

Required profile

• Experience as a Floor Manager, Restaurant Supervisor or Assistant Restaurant Manager in a busy restaurant, hotel bar or lifestyle hotel, with the confidence to lead a shift
• Natural host who balances a relaxed atmosphere with attentive, organised service
• Hands-on leadership: able to run a briefing, coach a colleague and lead a team on a busy night
• Good understanding of food, wine, cocktails and coffee, with a willingness to keep learning
• Clear communication with guests, neighbours and an international team
• Sound judgement with guest complaints and team challenges
• Understanding of food safety, allergens, responsible alcohol service and safe working practices
• Flexibility for early and late shifts, weekends and public holidays, and support for the wider F&B operation

Required skills

• POS systems, cash controls, stock counts and daily reporting
• Practical understanding of sales and labour costs
