Forest Management Programme Manager (FSC)

About the role

FSC, a global not-for-profit organisation promoting responsible forest management, is recruiting a Forest Management Programme Manager in Bonn, Germany. The role leads the development of FSC's international requirements for sustainable forest management, often described as the "nucleus" of the organisation. It involves leading a team of experienced professionals, guiding policy development and ensuring quality and consistency across FSC's global framework.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of experienced managers, inspiring and coaching them to build a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative environment, applying FSC's Leadership Principles
• Lead the revision and implementation of FSC's core standards, including the Principles & Criteria and International Generic Indicators, and ensure quality assurance of policy clarifications and interpretations
• Oversee operational and strategic planning of the Forest Management Programme, develop outcome-oriented work plans and manage annual budgets
• Supervise the development of communications, guidance and training materials for certificate holders, certification bodies and stakeholders
• Maintain reporting systems to track progress, update leadership and ensure transparency and accountability

Required profile

• MSc in Forest Management or a related field (PhD is a strong asset)
• Minimum 5 years in forest management, certification or program leadership
• Proven experience in forestry or related natural resource sectors
• Prior experience in standard or certification schemes or bodies
• Fluency in English; Spanish or French is a plus
