Freelance Project Manager – Solar PV & BESS

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead a large‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and hybrid Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Berlin and other European sites. The role spans 12 months with the possibility of extension and offers a competitive hourly rate.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of utility‑scale Solar PV and BESS projects from early construction through commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate civil, mechanical and electrical workstreams, ensuring alignment with design, project plans and EPC requirements.
• Manage subcontractors to guarantee safe, compliant and timely installation of all components and infrastructure.
• Oversee documentation, project KPIs, risk management, stakeholder communication and on‑site decision‑making.
• Ensure all works comply with design drawings, HSE requirements, project specifications and contractual obligations.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager on utility‑scale Solar PV/BESS construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, EPC processes, HSE standards and multi‑discipline project delivery.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
• Right to work in the EU and English proficiency at C1 level or higher.
