Freight Cost Management Officer/Accountant

About the role

Join BASF’s Accounts Payable & Freight Cost Management team in Berlin and ensure professional freight invoice handling across the EMEA region. You will work closely with logistics, procurement and internal service recipients to keep freight costs accurate and transparent.

Key responsibilities

• Check, process and post incoming freight invoices and resolve discrepancies.
• Calculate freight costs, perform account reconciliations and manage key business partners.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Logistics, Procurement and local service recipients.
• Continuously improve financial processes and support automation initiatives.
• Contribute to the implementation of new ERP systems (Spark for Agricultural Solutions and Mercury for Core Chemicals).
• Utilize SAP and MS Office tools for daily tasks.

Required profile

• Commercial training (e.g., freight forwarding and logistics services clerk, wholesale and foreign trade clerk) or business studies with a focus on logistics or finance.
• Preferably initial experience in the finance department of a forwarding company.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles.
• Fluent in English and German.
