Frontend Engineer – Remote (TypeScript/React)

About the role

Giant Swarm is seeking a Frontend Engineer to lead the development of its web interface built on Backstage, using TypeScript and React. You will write maintainable, high‑quality code and help other engineers contribute confidently to a platform that manages Kubernetes clusters, observability, and applications.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to design, build, and ship new user experiences for enterprise customers.
• Identify and implement improvements in both the user‑facing UI and the underlying codebase.
• Ensure the web interface becomes a benchmark for beauty and usability within the Kubernetes community.
• Mentor peers on best engineering practices and platform conventions.

Required profile

• Strong software‑engineering fundamentals: problem decomposition, abstraction design, testing, version control.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Deep familiarity with the listed tech stack and web‑full‑stack concepts.
• Understanding of OAuth and OpenID Connect standards.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Helm charts, and container images.
• Comfort with agentic software engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code) and a commitment to clean code and documentation.
• Excellent communication, project‑ and time‑management skills.
• Availability within CET ± 2 hours for effective collaboration.
