Full Professorship in Mathematics – Bridging the Gaps Chair

About the role

The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster invite applications for a W3‑level Full Professorship in Mathematics (Bridging the Gaps Chair). The position is embedded in the German Excellence Strategy and aims to strengthen interdisciplinary applied mathematics research.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead a research program that connects distinct mathematical disciplines, especially those aligned with the university’s existing strengths.
• Contribute to the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster and the Centre for Mathematics Münster.
• Participate in teaching activities for undergraduate, graduate, and the new master’s programme in data science.
• Foster collaborations within the university, with external research centres, and in third‑party funded projects.
• Support the University’s Centre for Data Science and Complexity.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in mathematics or a closely related field.
• Outstanding international research record with publications in high‑impact venues.
• Experience as a Juniorprofessor, habilitation, or equivalent senior academic/research position.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at university level.
