Global Procurement Food Expert – 24‑Month Fixed Term

About the role

METRO is seeking a Global Procurement Food Expert for a 24‑month fixed‑term assignment at its headquarters. The role will drive the development and harmonisation of the food assortment sold by METRO subsidiaries worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the international food assortment and identify improvement opportunities.
• Align with country sourcing teams to harmonise product ranges and maximise potential.
• Monitor supplier production capacity, coverage rates and e‑sourcing status, maintaining up‑to‑date price, volume and contract databases.
• Lead global relationships with strategic suppliers, ensuring performance aligns with METRO’s strategy.
• Define, negotiate and implement performance targets for the Global Own Brand range.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Quality, Packaging, Supply Chain, Marketing) through a defined Own Brand process.
• Analyse RFQ inputs and negotiate optimal quality‑price ratios.
• Negotiate global service contracts supporting country‑specific supplier strategies and joint business plans.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in international food commodity buying or FMCG procurement.
• Proven track record as a strong negotiator and category manager.
• Interest in food product development and understanding of HoReCa customer needs.
• Analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Word.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
