Global Procurement Food Expert

About the role

METRO is seeking a Global Procurement Food Expert to lead the development and harmonisation of its food assortment across all country subsidiaries. Based at the global headquarters, you will work closely with sourcing teams, strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive performance, innovation and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Define, develop, negotiate and review the performance of the Global Own Brand Range in all markets.
• Align with country subsidiaries to harmonise product ranges and maximise their potential.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Quality, Packaging, Supply Chain, Marketing) through a defined Own Brand process.
• Analyse RFQ inputs and negotiate optimal quality‑price ratios.
• Negotiate global service contracts that support country‑specific supplier strategies and joint business plans.
• Monitor supplier production capacity, coverage rates and e‑sourcing status, maintaining accurate price, volume and contract data.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years in international food commodity buying or FMCG.
• Proven track record in category management and condition‑based supplier negotiations.
• Strong interest in food product development and understanding of HoReCa customer needs.
• Analytical thinking, problem‑solving ability and willingness to learn the B2B food wholesale sector.
